Kroštule
PREPARATION TIME: 30–40 minutes
DIFFICULTY: Easy
Ingredients
- 300 g all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon rakija (or rum)
- 1 tablespoon sour cream or melted butter
- A pinch of salt
- Zest of 1 lemon or orange
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Oil for frying
Preparation

In a bowl, mix flour, eggs, sugar, salt, sour cream (or butter), rakija, and citrus zest. Knead until you get a soft, elastic dough.

Roll out the dough thinly (about 2 mm thick) on a floured surface.

Cut into strips about 10–15 cm long and 2–3 cm wide. Make a small slit in the center and pull one end through to create a twist.

Heat oil in a deep pan and fry kroštule in batches until golden on both sides.

Remove and drain on paper towels. Dust generously with powdered sugar once cool.
