Prosciutto Rolls with Figs, Arugula, Cheese & Honey
PREPARATION TIME: 15 minutes
DIFFICULTY: Easy
Ingredients
- 16 slices of quality prosciutto (e.g. aged prosciutto)
- 8 small fresh figs (or dried if fresh not available), halved or quartered
- 32+ leaves of fresh arugula (about 2 per roll)
- Soft goat cheese or a fresh creamy cheese — about a teaspoon per roll
- A drizzle of honey (preferably floral like acacia)
- Optional: whole black peppercorns for a little peppery bite
Preparation
-
Lay out a slice of prosciutto. Place 2 arugula leaves on the slice.
-
Add a piece of fig and a small spoonful of cheese on top of the arugula. If you like, crack a bit of whole peppercorn for some spice.
-
Carefully roll the prosciutto slice into a tight roll. Repeat for all slices.
-
Just before serving, drizzle the rolls lightly with honey to add a sweet contrast.
Serving Suggestion
Serve immediately — these rolls go great as a starter or appetizer. They pair beautifully with toasted bread slices (croutons), a simple green salad, or a glass of crisp white or light red wine.
